Thank you for visiting Baloani, which I hope will prove to be a great point of reference for your personal philosophical

and spiritual journey.

My name is Paul Becque. When I first dated my wife, she called me Beqster, and the name has stuck! Now my friends and work colleagues use it too.

Since I was a child I wanted to know what life is all about. Consequently, I’ve studied many different beliefs and kept an open mind.

Buddhism and Taoism have been very inspirational for me. And, more recently, “The Secret” and our growing knowledge of quantum physics has taken me to an even deeper level of commitment to my discoveries. “Baloani” is simply a video diary of my journey and a reference point for anyone that resonates with my exploration.

100% Responsibility

Baloani Assay 1   -   1 February, 2010

What a great first week! First of all, allow me to share how overwhelmed I am by the number of people that have found “Baloani©” and taken the time to look around and sign-up for the newsletter and/or join “Beqster Baloani” on Facebook. The global access of the internet has allowed visitors to come from as far as Australia! Many thanks and hugs to everyone.

Additionally, “Baloani©” attracted emails from friends and colleagues that I haven’t seen in years and people that I don’t even know asked for advice and direction... please remember that I’m a student too, so I will only offer my opinion regarding reading materials and which teachers may be appropriate for an individual.

Clearly The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, has affected many other people, some of whom have already tried using the Law of Attraction with success, and others who loved it, but forgot about it after some weeks or months. Many more had not heard of it, and were excited to see what my journey may, or may not prove to be true.

The focus this week has been on the first chapter offered by Jack Canfield in his book The Success Principles... Take 100% Responsibility for Your Life. Well, I gotta tell you, it would have been easy to think that the information in that short chapter was easy to understand, and move on to chapter two, but that would have defeated the object of this site, to read, digest and share the progress I made. So I stayed with that chapter and read it time and time and time again. It proved to be the best thing I could have ever done. Because I have read this book before, I’ve even hi-lighted some of the text, but it hadn’t sunk in, and I don’t believe that I really understood the gravity of this first step. As the week went on, I thought deeply about the suggestions presented in this chapter, time and time again, and more importantly, tried to use it in my life, and even live it.

Jack Canfield teaches that we “only have control over three things (in our lives). The thoughts we think, the images we visualize, and the actions we take (our behaviours). He suggests that we should “make the decision to stop complaining, to stop spending time with complainers, and get on with creating the life of our dreams”. Furthermore, he encourages us to “replace complaining with making requests and taking action that will achieve our desired outcomes”.

A simple formula suggested by Dr. Robert Resnick, a psychotherapist in Los Angeles

   E + R = O    (event + response = outcome)

By changing our responses to events, we can change the outcome!

So, what did I do?

Without doubt, I tried to take control of my own thoughts. Instead of blaming “feelings”, I thought about what I was doing, or how I was reacting and took control over the mental process. A couple of perfect examples; When I drive home from work, I usually get annoyed (response) by bad drivers and people that don’t use their turn signals, or drivers that I see on their mobile phones whilst driving (event). I thought about my usual reactions and realised that it wasn’t helping me, and using my horn, or getting angry, wasn’t making the quality of my life any better (outcome). So I decided to let it go. Drop it. Not take any notice... as long as it didn’t affect my life. And it didn’t. This changed the outcome.

A similar situation for me is shopping in the supermarket... I get soooo wound up if it’s busy and people are pushing their carts mindlessly, without consideration for anyone else, blocking isles, running over feet! I hate it, it drives me crazy, my blood boils. I bet you know what I mean?

Well, this week! I took 100% responsibility for my feelings and looked at the whole situation differently. Why let ‘em upset me? Why focus on the bad bits, the annoying parts... So I shifted my thinking to consider how lucky I was to be surrounded by so many wonderful people from all walks of life, and how lucky I was to have enough time to be able to keep my trolley under control, instead of hurrying around the store without time for others. Later in the week, I got even smarter... I went late at night when the store was much quieter.

By changing my response to events,

I was much happier and improved my quality of life.

It is working. I am actually taking control of my thoughts. So much so, that I wanted to do this chapter for another week... but again, that would be going against the policy of “Baloani©” and probably allowing me to do what I usually do... wallow in the bits I enjoy and skip the bits that don’t appeal to me. I can’t allow that this time... I am responsible to YOU! So I’ll move on to chapter two, but I will certainly keep the lesson step bubbling underneath... it’s given me a real sense of controlling my own life... which feels pretty amazing in itself.

Once I started thinking like this, I also thought about the past. Did I really bring about everything in my life? I went to Hollywood to be a movie star, had a brilliant four years, but never made it. Was that my fault? Wasn’t it bad luck? Somebody else took my dream? Nope. It was me. Too much partying, too much fun, not enough planning and certainly not focused enough. I’ll take the rap for that. I did the same with many events in my life... and the truth is, it would be easy, and certainly easier, to blame others... blame life! for what had happened... but would it get me anywhere? Would I do it differently if I had a second chance? Unless I change my ways, my habits, the way I think... probably not... so, am I responsible for everything I my life? Probably. When I look back I can see recurring mistakes, the same problem over and over again... why? The same set of behaviour patterns. I believe that’s the key to this chapter. Realising that everything is a choice... including the way you feel, the way we look at things... and much of it is passed down to us by parents, or taught by supervisors... so now I become the Boss! If I can change my behaviour, I can change the outcome.

Next week... “Be clear why you’re here”.

PS. If you haven’t already done so, grab a copy of “The Secret” on dvd and/or the  “Success Principles” by Jack Canfield. Have an eventful week, be well...

Loved the example given paul, as you’re avoiding stress to yourself and negative feelings brewing in us, over others, hhmmm good stuff. Applying this myself in my

life and it's encouraging - Cheers! :) x

I am going on to Amazon right now to buy Jack Canfield. You're very influential

Paul! x

In this first

video assay Beqster explains that the

principle suggested by Jack Canfield has been understood and implemented, and by applying it for a week a great deal was achieved, compared to when he had simply read  the first chapter in the past and took

                                        no action.
