Thank you for visiting Baloani, which I hope will prove to be a great point of reference for your personal philosophical
and spiritual journey.
My name is Paul Becque. When I first dated my wife, she called me Beqster, and the name has stuck! Now my friends and work colleagues use it too.
Since I was a child I wanted to know what life is all about. Consequently, I’ve studied many different beliefs and kept an open mind.
Buddhism and Taoism have been very inspirational for me. And, more recently, “The Secret” and our growing knowledge of quantum physics has taken me to an even deeper level of commitment to my discoveries. “Baloani” is simply a video diary of my journey and a reference point for anyone that resonates with my exploration.

Visualisation is not something new to me. I first heard about in when I lived in Los Angeles in the early 1990’s and was introduced to the idea through the book “Creating Money; Keys to Abundance” by Sonaya Roman and Duane Packer. It was the first time I had heard about “magnetising” which is the core of the “Law of Attraction”, and it was perfect timing! I had been living my dream life, but now that life had come crashing down around my feet.
18 months earlier, I was visiting my sister in Seattle, Washington. Quite by “chance” I saw an article regarding auditions for the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles... wow, what an opportunity! It would be a dream come true.
I’d auditioned for drama schools in the UK when I was just 17 and 18, but they’d all declined. Being as positive as I am, I held on to the words of Denholm Elliott, who you may recognise from Indiana Jones as well as many other great movies.
When he auditioned me, he wanted to know why I had played roles
that were far senior to my age... why didn’t I play the part
of a 17 or 18 year old, rather than, men? My answer was
simple. I wanted to be a character actor... I didn’t want to
be a 17 or 18 year old, I want to be a colourful, life-
character, and one that made people laugh!
Denholm Elliott’s advice... go see the world! Get some life
experience. Get out there, see what it’s all about. Find your
passion and bring it to your work!
It was the best advice anyone could have ever given me... because having taken that information to heart... I set about getting myself a job on a cruise ship and subsequently spent 18 years at sea as an entertainer, culminating my career as the Cruise Director (onboard Head of Entertainment) aboard the world’s largest cruise ship (at that time), the Queen Mary 2. (If you’d like to see what I did, click here).
I’m sharing this story with you, because I ended up going to LA, auditioning, being accepted and attending the school. It really was a dream come true! Taking the advice of Denholm Elliott had paid off big time. I got to travel for 18 years, see most of the world, learn about other cultures, other languages, make a huge amount of friends around the world, and still got into drama school!
My mistake was, and this is all part of taking 100% responsibility, one of Jack Canfield’s first lessons as shared in blog week 1 and week 2... I
presumed that I had “arrived”! In retrospect, getting to LA and
training at the American Academy of Dramatic Art wasn’t a ticket
to success, it was only part of the journey... I didn’t think so at
the time and I lived it large; limousines, helicopters, celebrity
parties, flash watch and then... gone! Within one year, I was
out of cash. No money whatsoever! Finished. Brassic. Broke.
Nothing left!!!
How the hell was I gonna pay for next year of schooling? How
was I gonna get through the summer break? How was I gonna
pay rent? Food? Arrrrgh!
It was the lowest point of my life. I really thought it was over. I can clearly remember sitting in my 1965 Chevy, considering driving off of a bridge that was being built in Pasadena. I thought it was better to die in LA, rather than give it all up and go home.
So, let’s get onto visualising. As far as I’m concerned this is one of the most important parts of bringing the “Law of Attraction” to life. So I’ve decided to break this chapter down into three parts... this week I’ll talk about visualising in your mind, like projecting a picture into your minds eye... I think some people would call this meditating or even praying... it’s just a label... call it what you like.
Next week I want to focus on the Vision Boards or dream boards and goal books or scrap books, because they can really make a difference to you. You may not always have the time to sit and “meditate”, or you may be embarrassed to do it when you’re with friends or away for a weekend, but you can make time to look through your book/board.
And the third week, I want to take the idea suggested at the end of this chapter in “The Success Principles” regarding the “Hour of Power” recommended by Azim Jamal.
Today, I got this email message from Mike Dooley’s “Notes from the Universe” which really embraces what we’re looking at:
In “The Secret” it’s Mike Dooley that gives a brilliant directive on visualising, watch this:
One of my favourite things to do,
is visualise. It is something we naturally do, even if we don’t realise it. I bet you’ve used the term “I can see myself doing that” or “I can picture you doing that”... it’s an integral part of our make up, but when studied and used consciously, it’s a powerful tool for
change!!
Whilst sitting in that car, I remember hearing a little voice... “It’s only money”. It’s only money? What did that mean? After thinking for a few moments, I realised that it was only money that stood between me and what I wanted... another year at the Academy.
Within a couple of days, a friend handed me “Creating Money; Keys to Abundance” by
Sonaya Roman and Duane Packer and I turned my life around. By “magnetising” or using
the “Law of Attraction” as it’s called today, I spent the entire summer working 4
jobs; waiting tables, mime artist in Long Beach, selling debit card hardware to stores
and playing bit-
I’m sharing this with you, because I think it’s a perfect example of how the “pictures” in our head, our perceptions, can be changed in a moment. And with the right thoughts, clear images, a confident push... we can do anything.
I have a number of examples like this from my own life, which is ultimately, why I’m so convinced that the “Law of Attraction” is a real force, a law, just like gravity. If you want more examples, Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” has many more, and of course, his “Chicken Soup” collection of books provides even more... if you’re looking for inspiration, get one of his books, or watch a movie from the list... get inspired, “push” yourself.
Having met Mike and read his material, I gotta tell ya that I find his way of visualising to be the most powerful. It’s quick, it’s easy, it’s fun to do, and it costs absolutely nothing! Watch this clip of him in Rhonda Byrne’s “The Secret”.
You can bring Mike’s way of visualising into a few simple steps:
A big part of visualising is focusing on the end result. Enjoy it. Be there. DO NOT get concerned about getting there... achieving the goals. That’s not your job. Simply dream and have fun, then look out for clues and opportunities.
In previous blogs I’ve talked about the “Law of Attraction” working like a satnav... let the the satnav do the work, you sit back and imagine what it will look like when you arrive!
Here’s a great example of how this can work... last week I was caught up in the Icelandic volcanic ash cloud that grounded airplanes across Europe for six days, and was unable to get home from Spain. We decided to be calm and wait a couple of days for it to clear, thinking we’d fly home a couple of days later. But, after those few days had passed, it was announced on the news that a second volcano may erupt and cause further disruptions... so we decided the best thing to do was get going.
We had no idea HOW we were
going to get home. We knew that
the planes weren’t flying to the UK,
but had the choice of cars, buses,
trains and ferries. So we FOCUSED
on the END RESULT... home! And
again, we had no idea HOW we
would do it. After looking on the
internet the first step seemed
clear... get a train to Madrid, which
we did. However, because I’m
trying to live the “Baloani®”
project, we had flown to Spain first
class, and decided to do the same
on the train! That’s how we SEE ourselves always travelling in the future (whenever it’s economically viable)... living “as if”.
From Madrid we tried to rent a car, book a train or coach, all of which seemed impossible or too costly... everyone was cashing in on the problem... making out like bandits.
We went to the airport to seek help, slept overnight, met the UK Embassy, got a free coach ride to Calais (which took 18 hours) and hopped on a ferry across the English Channel. Then we took a train to London... home sweet home!
When we set out, we had no idea HOW we would get back, we simply FOCUSED on our END RESULT... and looked for clues, ideas, opportunities. They all fell into place and we made it, safe and sound. It could have gone a number of ways... watching the news, we see people got rides on tug boats, naval ships, a brand new cruise liner... others got a free ride on transporter trucks heading to the UK. All of these people had one thing in mind... getting home... and none of them knew HOW they would do it when they set out. The “Law of Attraction” in action?
And finally, if you’re struggling to get your head around visualising and want to
have it all done for you, “The Secret” visualising tools provide generic, but powerful,
mini-
Next week, I’ll focus on the vision boards... I can’t wait... I am becoming more excited about my future by the day. Be well, love and light.
Visualisation WORKS!
Visualising is not something that has been invented by new thought writers and positive thinkers... it’s real. It’s actually used by very successful athletes and sportsmen. There are numerous examples in “The Success Principles” and “The Secret” and you will find many more in countless books. Even NASA have used this technology with astronauts... whatever you do, DO NOT under estimate the power of visualising!

Awesome Blog Paul... all sooo true and your story ties in beautifully! Can't wait for the vision boards... we have been creating ours for some time, and of course updating them, making changes etc etc. Seeing the bigger picture is a huge driving force!
