Thank you for visiting Baloani, which I hope will prove to be a great point of reference for your personal philosophical

and spiritual journey.

My name is Paul Becque. When I first dated my wife, she called me Beqster, and the name has stuck! Now my friends and work colleagues use it too.

Since I was a child I wanted to know what life is all about. Consequently, I’ve studied many different beliefs and kept an open mind.

Buddhism and Taoism have been very inspirational for me. And, more recently, “The Secret” and our growing knowledge of quantum physics has taken me to an even deeper level of commitment to my discoveries. “Baloani” is simply a video diary of my journey and a reference point for anyone that resonates with my exploration.

Vision Boards

Blog week 13   -   4 May, 2010

The last week has just flown by... I can’t believe I’m onto Vision Boards already.

In addition to working on my own vision boards and scrap book, I’ve actually started working on mediation too! In blog week 4, I told you that I’d found myself at Centerpointe, the home of Bill Harris and bought his Holosync cd audio technology (designed to induce the brain wave patterns into deep meditation).

Well, I’ve started playing them, and I gotta tell ya, I’m sleeping like a baby! They said you become a Zen monk at the touch of a button, but holy mackerel, I’m out like a light... the notes clearly express the fact that you need to use the programme for 14 days before you will experience any change or difference, so I’ll keep you posted... it’s too early to start making any claims, or sharing experiences, but I can already tell you, I love the sounds... they’re amazing.

Vision Boards, which also have many other names including Dream Boards, Goal Books, Vision Journals, Treasure Maps, Visual Explorers, Creativity Collages, etc... but they are all variations of the same thing. A place where you can keep a bunch of images that represent your dream life, what you want in your life, who you want to become, and can be looked at on a daily basis... more often if you wish.

I think we may have all done something like this at some point or another, perhaps a car on the wall, or a picture of a holiday to help you save your money... but this idea takes it much further, and being conscious of what you’re doing makes it even more powerful. The first time I heard the term “Vision Board” was from John Assaraf in “The Secret”. Here’s a clip of him talking about it on CNN with Larry King (so you know this is mainstream stuff, not some ethereal idea).

Week 11 - take two

All you have to do to create your choice of Vision Board, is go through a pile of magazines and tear out the images you want. Don’t glue anything at this point, simply let yourself have fun looking through and pulling out the images, words or headlines that resonate with you. But most importantly, have fun with it and don’t worry about how big the pile of pictures and words may become.

Once you’re done, go through the images and begin to lay your favourites on the board. Eliminate any images that no longer feel right, follow your intuition, your gut feelings. As you lay the pictures on the board, you’ll get a sense how the board should be laid out. You may decide to assign a theme to each corner of the board. Health, Job, Spirituality, Relationships, for instance. Or it may just be that the images want to go all over the place. Or you might want to fold the board into a book that tells a story. There is no right or wrong way!

With everything in place, begin gluing everything onto the board. Add writing if you wish. Paint on it, or write words with markers... make it fun, make it personal, make it YOU.

Some people recommend leaving a space in the very centre of the vision board for a photograph of yourself... if you decide to do this, make sure you look radiant and happy. I think it’s a great idea, because you’ll actually see yourself surrounded by your dream life.

Now hang your vision board in a place where you will see it every day.

If you’re wondering about the “power” of these boards, I can already tell you from my own experience that they work. They have worked for my wife and mum too. I can’t tell you why... perhaps it’s as simple as remaining focused on something until you get it... the principle suggested behind the “Law of Attraction” is simple, focus on the end result and the universe will conspire to bring it to you. I love ‘em. I swear by ‘em. It’s free, it’s easy and it won’t make you feel crazy... actually, it makes you feel great, because you are constantly reminded of what you want, what you’re working toward and even, why you are working!

Here’s the outcome of John

Assaraf’s Vision Board story,

told in “The Secret”. It’s a video

clip I found on You Tube of a

young couple that actually go to

visit him in the house that he’d

been dreaming of five years earlier!

Apparently, he hadn’t even realised

that he’d achieved this marvel,

until his young son asked him what

the boards were, and as he went

through the explanation he saw

that the image on the board, was

the house that he was living in!

A great story, inspirational.

Additionally I have my scrap book, which has the same pictures in it, but it can be carried around... for example, when we went to Spain recently, I was able to take it with me.

What You’ll Need

Any type of board; poster board, cork board, magnetic board, even a large piece of card will do.

Collect a large stack of magazines, ensuring you find lots of different types, you don’t want to limit your options.

Some glue, pins or magnets dependent on the type of board you’ve gone for. (If it’s glue find something that won’t ripple the card, or dry up to quickly).

When you go to create your Vision Board, you may realise that you’re not really sure what it is your after, where you are heading and what it is you expect from life. If that’s the case, don’t panic!

Go through each magazine. Tear out the images that make you happy. Don’t ask why, just keep going through the magazines. If there is a picture of a pet that makes you smile, then pull it out. If it’s a beautiful country cottage, then rip it out. Just have fun and be open to whatever resonates with you. You might want to ask yourself what the pictures mean to you. What are they telling you about yourself? Does it mean you want to get a dog, get more sleep, take some time off, or even stop hanging around people that drain you? It’s likely you’ll know the answer.

If you don’t, but you still love the image, then put it on your vision board anyway. It will have an answer for you soon enough. It might be weeks, or even months, but someday you’ll understand why you liked that picture. Producing your Vision Board helps you to go deeper inside your mind, your heart, your soul, rather than just thinking about material items you may want. It can speak to you and even teach you a little bit about yourself and your passions.

We have generated several vision boards for our own use. We have one in the kitchen (pictured below) which we look at almost every day... it’s our shopping list and reminder board too. As you can see, it shows our dream house, my dream car, a baby, a symbol of love and a house making us money. At the top of the board is a great quote, a reminder, to Visualise and Materialise, exactly what a Vision Board is designed to do and below that is a comment regarding money...

I can’t remember where I found that, but it is a bloody good quote and I wrote it down, and used it.

Larry King asks about Vision Boards

Again, there is sooooo much information available on vision boards and visualisation, so if you need more info, just Google it, I’m sure you’ll find loads. Let’s take a final opportunity to look at the Visualisation tool provided by “The Secret” movie... which simply takes the vision board from PointPoint presentation and moving pictures... to a movie! I guess it’s the ultimate vision board.

But because I’m on the computer every day, I’ve been working on a PowerPoint presentation, that will allow me to sit in front of the computer and simply watch it each morning. There are loads of companies that now have software to help you do this and “The Secret” website has the movies that I linked to in blog week 12. John Assaraf’s team came up with i-grasshopper which will enable you to receive affirmations and visualisations at any time of day... even on your iphone! Here’s an intro:

I’ve already begun receiving comments regarding vision boards and their success... here are a few... I’ll add more later, and feel free to drop me a line by using the “Share Your Thoughts” form at the bottom of the page.

I stay in a hostel in Mumbai, India... I’m a very big fan of John Abraham... bollywood actor... my entire wall is filled with his posters... Everyday I look at the posters and wish I could meet him... just once... this Jan I happened to meet him... while he was going to the gym and I had some work in the same building... was very happy to see him.. took a pic too...  :-D

Well, it wasn't a vision board per se, but I had written down exactly what I wanted when buying my first house. I lost the notebook for a while, and later found it after we finally got a house. Everything I had wanted was what I got in our house (except one bedroom less - I had wanted 4... but I wasn't really "set" in how many I had wanted/needed). My house is literally my dream come true!!!

Jennifer Brentano     02 May 2010 14:31:42

I update mine every 4 months. I manifest then add stars as I go along! I had a meeting the other day with someone that I thought would take 3-5 years and it was 8 months. Amazing!

Margo Della Torre     04 May 2010 15:07:21

I know they work...also you can VISION your dream mate and he can become EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT. I sometimes do not know how to get it all, but I am willing to learn. I have parts of the puzzle, I will get this... I vision it... X

Send me your story by using the “Share Your Thoughts” form at the bottom of the page.

I’ve been using a Vision Board ever since I saw the idea presented by John Assaraf on The Secret... and I’m really pleased to tell you that it’s already worked for me! Not maybe, not possibly, but definitely! It’s easy to do, won’t cost you money, is fun to generate and can may a huge change

                                       to your life!
