Thank you for visiting Baloani, which I hope will prove to be a great point of reference for your personal philosophical

and spiritual journey.

My name is Paul Becque. When I first dated my wife, she called me Beqster, and the name has stuck! Now my friends and work colleagues use it too.

Since I was a child I wanted to know what life is all about. Consequently, I’ve studied many different beliefs and kept an open mind.

Buddhism and Taoism have been very inspirational for me. And, more recently, “The Secret” and our growing knowledge of quantum physics has taken me to an even deeper level of commitment to my discoveries. “Baloani” is simply a video diary of my journey and a reference point for anyone that resonates with my exploration.

My First Hurdle

Blog week 23   -   13 July, 2010

This blog was supposed to be about Constant and Never-ending Improvement (CANI) which I first read about in the Anthony Robbins book, Unlimited Power, back in the early 90’s. It rocked my world, and I’ve been using it ever since. Jack Canfield now adds it to his bag of tools in “The Success Principles”.

However, Baloani® is all about my journey, my efforts to use the “Law of Attraction” in my life and prove (or disprove) it’s reality. So sharing my real, truthful, honest experiences is far more important than just writing another happy chapter of success... this is the nitty-gritty... this is what most of us go through year after year, so to avoid it, write it off, pretend it’s not happening, would mean that this blog is “baloney”! And I would hate that... so here it is... in the raw, just writing about what I feel and how I’m gonna deal with it using the tools I’ve gathered during this project... Baloani® at it’s BEST!

This last week has proved to be a really difficult one for me... I’m pleased to tell you it’s only work-related and the family are all well and healthy. And despite my recent efforts on Baloani® and my embracement of a positive lifestyle... I’ve still managed to get myself in a place that is so uncomfortable that it’s actually causing me physical pain from the tension... I guess it’s the negative thoughts manifesting in my body! Ouch!!

Here’s the difficulty... I gotta take 100% responsibility for it all. What?! It’s not my fault!! I don’t put the sales teams together! I’m not the reason we don’t all see eye-to-eye and disagree on how we move forward!!!! Arrrrgh! MY FAULT?

I know I procrastinated about taking a massive leap forward when buying the car... but this is different. I’ve been trying to work around this issue, climb over it and even tackle it head on for a month... but I’m not making progress and now I feel that I’ve failed at my first real test... so I’m gonna call it my First Hurdle.

Week 11 - take two

What I need to focus on is what I can change! If I can succeed in being happy with the outcome at work, no matter what it is, then I can avoid failure. I need to control my emotions... possibly change the way that I’m equating our results at work to ensure that I don’t get angry, generate pain in my body, go home and drink and eat food that’s gonna make me feel worse in the long run.

That’s it... that’s my goal for this week. Less serious. More laughter. Happy with myself and not the outcome that I don’t have control over. Then I can avoid failure and jump over this first hurdle! That’s what I’m gonna do.

Holy moly... just writing this blog is clearing my mind... which shouldn’t surprise me, because I learnt that trick in the early 90’s when I was living in LA with my mate Tyler and he bought me “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron. For several years after reading that book, I wrote my morning pages, and loved it... I still have the journals. If you’re a writer, love writing, an entertainer or creative in any way, consider that book... it’s awesome!

You know, it's not more knowledge, it's not more education,
it's not more facts that we need.
It's a better use of what we already have that we need to have.
You have each and every one of you,
within your potential power right now
to do a wonderful job in your chosen field -
if you would only embrace it and use it.

Okay, starting today. A new start. A fresh start.

A chance to begin again. Pick myself up and have

another go. Smile every day, no matter what.

Today my books on selling by Jeffrey Gitomer arrived,

so I decided to jump on the net and see if he offered

any advice on my current problem.

I didn’t expect to find much, because you don’t really

associate sales with life problems... but you know what? It’s an industry that requires self confidence, and the strength to cross hurdles, often bridges, time and time again. You get a lot of “no’s” in sales, and you keep going until you get the “yes” you are looking for... so it’s not so different after all... and look what I found...

This week’s blog

is a shocker... didn’t see it coming! But even after all of my positive thinking, visualising, proving to myself that this stuff is working, I have found myself completely and utterly miserable! I know why, and I understand that it’s my thought patterns that are causing it...

                               but I can’t beat it!

Why do I believe I’ve failed?

If I go back to the core message of Jack Canfield’s work, it’s the fact that we are 100% responsible for our lives. Everything. So, why haven’t I been able to resolve my situation and avoid the pain I’m in?

Well first, let me tell you that every time I felt nervous, angry, unsupported ... I really did think about Baloani® and considered all of my options and how I could use the information to move forward. I asked myself “What would

Jack Canfield do?” Nothing worked. I still felt my emotions getting

the better of me.

I’ve tried talking with the team, persuading them to see from a

different point of view, trying new ideas, giving something a

go... but, no progress. And I’m guessing it’s the resistance

to my ideas that’s driving me crazy and making me feel like

I’m banging my head against a wall.

At the end of the day, however... my failure is not about getting people to see my point of view... it’s the emotional journey that I need to focus on. I’m in-charge of my thoughts. Consequently I control my choice to be angry or not. And by getting angry and then holding it in, I’m generating tension and pain in my body. And believe me... I’ve been a wreck.

So much so, that when I get home I need a glass of wine. Healthy food, out of the window, comfort eating has been my diet. Quick, tasty food... often deep fried! Loads of chocolate, biscuits and coffee, coffee, COFFEE! Exercise... forget it... I wanna quick fix. Everything has gone down the drain this week!

He’s right!... you don’t grow a positive mental attitude overnight. It’s something you’ve got to work on and when the going gets tough (which it is), it’s the perfect time to get ya head in the books, listen to tapes and watch the dvd’s about positive outcome. I’ve got 45 years of uncontrolled conditioning... of course I’ll go off the rails now and again... but the good news is, I know it, I recognise it, I’ve already observed it and now I’m able to work on it and rectify the damage, which means I’ll be ready next time!

In The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, there is a story about a lady that cures herself of cancer... and she claims to have done so by avoiding tension and negative experiences into her life and only allowing fun, love and laughter in... and to do so, she says that she watched comedy videos day after day after day. The idea seems simple, and let’s face it, we all feel good after a good laugh. So we went to see Shrek 4 at the weekend, and yes, I laughed, and yes I felt better. So I thought I’d round up today’s blog on a lighter note... and despite the risk of offending some people, I’ve added one of several trailers for “What the Bleep are You Talking About” by Dennis Hemphill... I know it’s poking fun at “Bleep” and ultimately at what I believe in... but hey, it’s harmless and it’s FUNNY!

Let me also take the opportunity to THANK everyone that sent feedback regarding Baloani®... I was overwhelmed by some of the comments and the amount of enjoyment and encouragement my journey is providing others... even more reason for me to be

totally honest and let ya know

that I’m having a bad week!

I have taken onboard the

ideas and suggestions and

will try to add all of the books

and mentors that you’ve

suggested over the coming

days.

It was inspirational to

have sooooo many people

from around the world wish

me luck, thank me, and take

the time to share their own

stories... everything from

tummy tucks, to medical

recovery to bad relationships

and heart-breaking situations. If writing Baloani® and

sharing can bring soooo much pleasure and inspiration to

you, I promise I won’t stop jumping my own hurdles...

Love your blog Paul and its great that you are so honest... the hurdles and challenges along the way are what triggers the revelations and allows you to move forward and continue growing/evolving... although at the time its a pain!!

All these little parts to the jigsaw are what makes the bigger picture so grand... whilst you are speaking to your followers with the internet as a medium, I think you will also be speaking LIVE to the masses soon. And as Tony Robbins will tell you at his seminars CONFUSION is great... it means you are about to LEARN something! Much Love, Kimmi x

Hey Paul, sorry you have had such a tough week, sometimes these things test us but its going with the flow and following the Wu Wei, just like the weather, sometimes its rainy and stormy and then the sun comes out and all is calm and ok again. There will be ups and downs like you said but its how we deal with it, and you are a trooper and will be back on it in no time. Takecare, Cazabella xxx

Richard Clarke     18 July 2010, 12:49:06

Hi, we met at Mike Dooley's event in Manchester earlier this year. We walked to the station (got lost a little bit) remember? I have been following your blog and like I said before I think you are doing something rather brilliant.

Your last entry struck a chord with me because I had a week like yours not so long ago. Everything 'seemed' crap (when it wasn't). Just a bit of friendly advice.

Get off the grogg - completely.

Success (in ANY area of life) comes from an integration of knowledge - the right knowledge. Alcohol is a disintegrator of all knowledge. No matter how little you drink, it disintegrates knowledge. When you integrate enough knowledge, you KNOW what you need to do. You have certainty - then you just visualise and set goals and away you go. But alcohol disintegrates knowledge so you gradually remember less and less and less until you do not know what to do anymore (and it seems like it was never there to begin with) - at this point setting goals will destroy you. It's like a downward spiral.

Making money is a logical process of working out costs and learning to make sales and increase profits and learning what people will buy (which is basically the same as what you yourself would buy). You use the visualisation process to create and/or to do - once you have integrated all the knowledge required to make money. Otherwise you will get frustrated with the visualisation process. I'm sure you will disagree with me on some points because I have basically removed the shortcut you thought was there but isn't. But take it from someone who has used the above to create a million pound a year business with 20% net profits during the worst recession in history and lives in a 5 bed detached house in the best part of town and who drives a top of the range Audi sports car - I know what I'm talking about.

There is no shortcut - except through books maybe. But even then you still have to integrate and use and practice and integrate the knowledge yourself and this takes time. Visualise reading loads of books on how to make money, visualise creating a business and making tons of sales. Then visualise more money - THEN the car and the house. Visualise the car and the house FIRST and you will go heavily into debt to get them. Hope this helps. Best regards. Richard

Alan Roberts     19 July 2010, 07:23:35

We all have a story to tell, I dont get it! By putting so called "teachers" up on high, of course I have people who i admire, but I wouldn’t pigeon hole them as guru or life coaches, teachers etc, yes they may be successful. You are already successful Paul, all you have is down to your own hard work, why ive others credit for that? The final push for your make of break is soley down to you. Give yourself the credit for that.

Ritu A Gulabani     20 July 2010, 11:33:53

Hi Beqster! I have a suggestion. You are great buddy and bad times do come no one is spared. Just as we keep on improving and giving final touch to our creation, to make it our best, God puts us in difficult situations to make his creatures improve, so that we can become the best. A pinch of meditation and spiritualism is required. In fact I would request you to read my latest blog "Know That God Loves You". Regards. Ritu
