Thank you for visiting Baloani, which I hope will prove to be a great point of reference for your personal philosophical

and spiritual journey.

My name is Paul Becque. When I first dated my wife, she called me Beqster, and the name has stuck! Now my friends and work colleagues use it too.

Since I was a child I wanted to know what life is all about. Consequently, I’ve studied many different beliefs and kept an open mind.

Buddhism and Taoism have been very inspirational for me. And, more recently, “The Secret” and our growing knowledge of quantum physics has taken me to an even deeper level of commitment to my discoveries. “Baloani” is simply a video diary of my journey and a reference point for anyone that resonates with my exploration.

One of the reasons I love the material in The Success Puzzle is the fact that it’s straight-to-the-point, no-nonsense, and it’s backed up with audio files and a workbook. It’s been stated many times that actually putting something in writing makes it far more powerful, and doing the exercises forces the reader to do just that. I highly recommend this audio program and workbook.

The first chapter explores success itself and shares the definition provided by Earl Nightingale after 17 years of research... “Success is the Progressive Realisation of a Worthy Ideal”... and encourages the reader to describe what each of the words means to them.

It then goes on to explore the thought process used by the Conscious Mind, Subconscious Mind and the Body, all in alignment with the ideas and thoughts suggested by Jack Canfield in “The Success Principles”. Additionally, he provides really simple diagrams to provide a graphic illustration to show the power of attitude and confirms that it is thoughts which determine the results in our lives.

I’m integrating this program into

the “Baloani®” project so that I

can really spend some time doing

the work myself. I’ve read it, I’ve

listened to it, but it’s time to sit

and complete the tasks, taking it

to the next level and really

knowing this material inside out.

Each week it is becoming clearer

to me that the source of power

within us all, our spirit, is the

driving force used to gain access

to the abundance that we desire.

We are all so busy using our senses

to live our lives, being directed by

smell, sound, sight, touch and taste... that we don’t take the time to stop and think... think about what we eat, think about what we read, watch, listen to and think about the better choices we can make to direct our lives in the direction that we dream of.

Having read the book already, I can tell you that it will bring to our attention the fact that we are living out a large number of choices, that we don’t even think about. Here’s a good example from my own life... McDonalds. I now know that this food isn’t doing my body any favours when I eat it. I’d be far better off with a bowl of salad, or a piece of fish with vegetables... but sometimes, I’ve just got to have it! Why? Because for years, I was taught that it was a treat.

My parents would take me on special occasions, it was one of my first experiences of “dining out” and I always got a toy! Of course I wanted to go back. When I joined the Cub Scouts, we’d often go on road trips, and the bus would pull into McDonalds and we’d all be let off the bus to eat at the “American diner”... damn that sounded so exotic when I was eight!

Well after years of teaching myself that this was a treat, I’m now supposed to tell my taste buds and subconscious mind that this find ain’t that great for me! Forget it, it’s engrained, it’s buried deep, deep within my memory bank that it’s a treat. So no matter how hard I try to avoid the “Golden Arches”, every now and again, I have to give in and have one!

I’m not stupid. As I am provided with new information I have changed the way I eat. But despite changes, improvements and the desire to lose more weight I still grab a burger now and again. I don’t eat fast food every day and I’d like to think that I’ve got a pretty good food balance... but I don’t find it easy to eat super healthy... and it’s mostly down to my upbringing... the way my brain was trained whilst I was young.

Do you get me point? Can you see how you become a product of your environment? Absorbing the information and habits of those around you, believing that it’s right, until you have the power to “re-consider” and make an informed decision. Then, if you have the will power... you can change!

The Success Puzzle

Blog week 29   -   31 August, 2010

Life is GREAT! I’m winning! I’m having more and more “whooooooohoooooo” days. And it’s all because of the “Baloani®” project. It’s all because I’m taking the time to learn about my thought process and make decisions on how I think, and consequently, how I feel. And it’s definitely working!!!

My most difficult task has been my work place. Six weeks ago I wrote about “My First Hurdle” and shared my struggle... but now I’ve mastered it. I have re-framed my thought process by using E + R = O that I learned about in week 1, and it’s changed everything. I’ve even incorporated this life changing “formula” into my PowerPoint visionboard.

E + R = O    (event + response = outcome)

By changing our responses to events,

we can change the outcome!

From the outset, Jack Canfield says that this first lesson is what his book “The Success Principles”, is based on... we are in charge of our lives... take 100% responsibility.

Whilst I’ve been doing the “Hour of Power” I have read Bob Proctor’s The Success Puzzle several times and repeatedly listened to it whilst driving to work... and without doubt, the material has been sinking in. Many of the “positive thinking” mentors will tell you that repetition works, and it helps to drive information deep into the subconscious mind... it’s certainly proving true for me. Consequently, I want to take the time to actually complete the exercises and tasks set out the workbook. And because I have just completed section one of “The Success Principles” it seems like the perfect time to dovetail into this work, before returning to section two of Jack’s book.

At this point, I would like to think that most people who have taken the time to read this blog, will have watched “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne and have some idea who Bob Proctor is... he’s the one who introduces “The Secret” and offers a further commentary in the special features. But hey, let me take this opportunity to indulge myself and let you know why I like his work, his guidance, his ideas and books so much.

For 40 years, Bob Proctor has

focused his entire agenda around

helping people create lush lives of

prosperity, rewarding relationships

and spiritual awareness.

He knows how to help people

because he comes from a life of

want and limitation himself. In 1960,

he was a high-school dropout with

a resume of dead-end jobs and a

future clouded in debt. One book

was placed in his hands -

Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow

Rich - which planted the seed of

hope in his mind.

In just months, and with further support from Earl Nightingale’s “The Strangest Secret”, his life literally turned 180 degrees. In a year, he was making more than $100,000 and soon he topped the $1 million mark.

Bob then moved to Chicago to work for his real-life mentors, Earl Nightingale and Lloyd Conant. After rising to the position of Vice President of Sales at Nightingale-Conant, he established his own seminar company. Bob Proctor now travels the globe, teaching thousands of people how to believe in themselves and how to act upon the greatness of their own minds.

Almost all of this material is based on this idea. THINK. Then decide to change. Because it’s our mind that is making all of the decisions, we simply need to KNOW that we have the power to change... but you’ll be surprised at how difficult it can be to change.

I’m pretty sure that many of us have had wake-up calls and changed a “paradigm” almost instantaneously... a heart-attack would make it easy to change a diet! What will it take for YOU to change your life?

Before starting

the next section of “The Success Principles” I have decided to focus on Bob Proctor’s The Success Puzzlewhich I have read several times whilst completing my daily “Hour of Power” and listened to repeatedly whilst driving my car. I want to dedicate a week to each of the six chapters in this literal

                                           workshop.

SET

I know this next video clip is dated, but in it’s time it was fresh and exciting. Television has changed a great deal in the last forty years. Nevertheless, the material is fabulous and it’s a great opportunity to actually see and hear one of the Founders of todays “personal development” movement... Bob Proctor’s mentor, Earl Nightingale.

Many times it takes hitting rock bottom for people to change. Just five years ago I was £50,000 in debt! That made me change the way I deal with money... and it took some doing... lots of sleepless nights, jobs I hated and the help of an expert. But the pain was sooooooo great, that I was able to re-educate myself.

Funnily enough, it wasn’t pain that lead me to “personal development”... it was the need for more success and an interest in “life”... what’s it all about? Why are some rich and others poor? What’s the point in life?

I believed in the “soul” so I tried the Bible, but it didn’t reveal any answers for me. I tried church. Still nothing. And yet I still believed that I could lose my arms and legs in an accident and still be Paul Becque. Still be funny. Still be loving. Still be driven to succeed. So the body isn’t important... it’s the mind.

So back in 1988, I read my very first self improvement book, “The Power of the Subconscious Mind” by Joseph Murphy, recommended to me by a Portuguese singer on the cruise ships, Fernando Fernandess, who became a life long friend. This book changed my life forever. It was soon followed by “The Power of Positive Thinking” by Norman Vincent Peale which still biblical references within it, but managed to fire my imagination and vision of possibility even further. It provided me with a sense of “can do” and encouraged me to dream of a life full of abundance.

Today, I believe I’m getting to the bottom of it all. My mind IS my spirit. It’s some incredible computer that I can program in any way I wish and it will find the results that I’m looking for... but I have to enter the data.

If I sit at my computer and stare at the screen, it does nothing. I have to turn it on. I have to tell it what I want to do... let’s say, find a hotel in central London. To do that I have to open a web browser, then I have to open a search engine, then I have to type in my search requirements and make my choice of options... fine tuning as I go along and pick up information. Then I decide which is the right hotel for me dependent upon cost, location, facilities, etc.

Reading “personal development” books is like having an instruction manual for your computer and the numerous programs available. Some people will decide that computing is too difficult, others will say that they’ve survived all this time without one... others will see the benefits and get going.

Me? I love computers. I can’t believe how much they can do. I edit video and photographs, build websites, write music, generate letters, balance my bank accounts, transfer money, prepare for work, stay in touch with friends and family with free-of-charge video calls, and enjoy international webinars on my computer!!!

Choose what it is you want to do with your MIND and start studying now! Next week, we explore a “Worthy Ideal” with Bob Proctor’s The Success Puzzle.
